Since roughly 2000, filesharing software has been popping up on the internet. Take Napster for example, which was shut down in July 2001. Napster let you download full MP3 songs from other people that were sharing their music around the world for free. After Napster was shut down by the legal authorities, it was bought out by Roxio who turned it into a legal music store like iTunes.

Kazaa was also an extremely popular filesharing program which is actually still being used today by some people. After a few years, however, it was shut down. A scare began when some people who had shared music with other people on Kazaa were sued by the RIAA for millions of dollars.

As you can see, it’s obviously not smart to use a filesharing service! First of all, it’s illegal. You can potentially get sued for millions of dollars. Second, it costs money to produce a CD and if you steal it, you are only hurting the band or artist you like. Anyway, you wouldn’t steal a CD from Best Buy, would you? Why would you steal one on the internet?

So if you are not going to use a filesharing service, what are the other options? iTunes is one option. But iTunes only lets you listen to 30-second samples before you buy a CD, which is usually about $10. If you bought ten CDs, that’s $100.

A cost-effective solution is a program called Real Rhapsody. It lets you stream unlimited high-quality music to your computer for $10 a month – the price of one CD on iTunes. Think of it: you get to listen to as many CDs as you want (unlimited listening) for the price of one CD.

A great thing about Real Rhapsody is that it’s legal. Bands and artists get paid each time you play a CD. But no matter how much you listen to, it’s still $10 a month. No more lawyers or lawsuits to worry about.

The other good thing about Rhapsody is that it’s fast and there’s no spyware. Just click play and it plays the high-quality (CD-quality) track almost instantly. There’s no spyware which is often packaged in with filesharing programs like Kazaa.

Another legal listening option is YourMusic. YourMusic sells physical CDs – but on the cheap. It’s just $5.99 a CD with free shipping. I like YourMusic because, personally, I like to have the real, actual CD so I don’t have to burn the CD myself and just because the actual CD looks nicer.

I highly recommend both programs – Real Rhapsody and YourMusic. Check them out and see if they’re right for you. You can try Real Rhapsody for $0.99 and YourMusic for $5.99 (for one CD).

YourMusic ($5.99/CD): http://kfzy.com/YourMusic

The justices determined that British customers who use a credit card abroad or on the internet will be given the same protection as those who shop in Britain. This decision allows purchasers to reclaim funds from their card company if the product they buy is faulty or does not arrive. As is the case in many countries, such a law already exists if goods are bought in Britain.

The plaintiff in the case was the government itself, on behalf of its consumers. The Office of Fair Trading targeted three representative credit card companies — Lloyds TSB, Tesco Personal Finance and American Express — in the court action for the purpose of expanding those rights to include purchased goods outside the United Kingdom or in cyberspace.

This decision can make issuers liable for credit card purchases over the internet from fraudulent foreign suppliers who failed to deliver. From their perspective, the original ruling had been expected to add £1billion in profits. However, now they’re more accountable, not only to the cardholder, but to the transaction itself.

With this ruling, whether they like it or not, credit card companies operating in the United Kingdom cannot stake a claim to territory already occupied by cybercurrencies such as e-gold and e-Bullion. Payments via those methods are equivalent to tendering cash, ie- there is no way of having transactions reversed, even in case of a legitimate error or an unauthorized spend. Thus, a merchant can’t be surprised by a chargeback at some distant point in time after a sale. If a refund or exchange is going to occur, it will be due to mutual agreement between vendor and customer.

The cybercurrencies contend that their services simplify transactions, and they’re correct. This point, though, is one reason why anyone making purchases in cyberspace should only do so if they have a satisfactory history with the vendor or if the vendor’s contact details are listed on their website.

American credit card companies are already liable for excessive phone service charges, such as those incurred by chat-line operators. They also assume a degree of liability for gambling debts accrued in cyberspace. Thus, many card issuers refuse to even accept such charges.

Obviously, to the informed cyber-consumer, a variety of options is becoming available for online commerce. It’s clear that keeping a portfolio of e-currency services and credit cards allows one to be better prepared for the range of purchasing formats currently being offered online.

For merchants, though, the same variety can cost them lost revenues unless they are capable of accommodating every option. Here, again, is where the DXinOne system is presenting a solution. They’re offering a program — with the unwieldy name of DXGlobal Payment Console and the just as unwieldy acronym of DXGPC — which combines all forms of payments into one processing system. The principle is to allow a vendor the ability to choose his currency of choice and know all payments will be received in that manner, which coincides nicely with DXiO’s avowed objective of simplifying cyberspace transactions.

In a world where more efficiency is required to maximize the use of our time and resources, e-commerce simply has to become more reliable and consumer-friendly. The recent British court ruling is a step in the right direction, as is the development of universal payment consoles such as that being deployed by DXinOne.

Many affiliate marketers are either unsuccessful or only partially successful because they tend to lack focus. They go from one strategy to another without really taking the time to master anything. Most affiliate programs provide information on how to promote the product and they will give you the necessary tools such as, text links, banners and more. Choosing an appropriate affiliate program is going to be a challenge for beginners but it is possible, without too much stress involved.

The main and most important reason affiliate programs are excellent for beginners is you only need to concentrate on promoting and not making your product. This is your key to a very successful future indeed. Learning more about what an affiliate program can do for you and knowing how to go about choosing the most appropriate one for your needs is also just as important.

The internet is truly the greatest place to locate all of this type of information that anyone of you might need at some point in your life, for one thing or another. Many people are becoming more interested in learning the ropes of affiliate programs and why they are so very beneficial to any type of business. Keep you eyes open to any changes being made at all times so that you can remain on top of things no matter what.

Other ways to promote your affiliate link includes writing articles, commenting in online forums, creating pay-per-click campaigns etc. As you become more experienced in marketing you will make the necessary adjustments and start creating a wonderful income! Once you begin seeing all of this hard earned money rolling in, you are going to be so pleasantly surprised, no doubts about that people.

The key to success in affiliate marketing is first and foremost to know how to choose affiliate programs that you are interested in and then plan and stay focused. You do this by concentrating on one strategy for a period of time, at least a month or two. Find as many sources as possible about affiliate programs and how to go about choosing the most appropriate one for your needs, you might even realize it is not that complex really.

Remember being patient is very important throughout all of this because giving up too quickly could really end up costing you tremendously at the end of it all, which none of you want right. Working hard and finding that inner strength is really what is going to get you far in the business world and it is what it is going to take to earn you the amount of money that you were first hoping for.

If it is not returning any income, then take a look at an alternative strategy and spend some time developing it. If it starts to work then take a look at ways of making it even better. Perhaps there are some mistakes being made that you did not first notice until now. It is important to understand all aspects of an affiliate program, a little piece at a time.

While there are plenty of legitimate online businesses that you can start or you can take part in you need to avoid those scams that tell you about making millions with only a couple hours of work each day. An affiliate program can get you guided in the right direction if you pay close attention to this article and look closer into other sources as well.

It simply isn’t going to happen and the only one that will be making money is the scammer who placed such ads in the first place.Yet too many of these business ventures fail because they aren’t well planned or the person have the belief that they can just get rich quick without having to do any work.

When you sit down at your computer to surf the internet you have the access to almost anything you could possibly want to buy. This is one of the main reasons why millions of people take a look around online each day. On the other side of this coin are the entrepreneurs who know there is a great deal of money to be made with a successful online business.

With a successful online business though you can have the freedom to work when you want from your home. You also have the opportunity to make a very good living at what you enjoy doing. If you don’t have your own product to promote you can sign up for various affiliate programs. These allow you to market products that other people have for sale and then earn commissions from those sales.

Have you ever wondered why your perfectly fine classified ad fails to attract the attention you desire? There should be dozens—no, hundreds—of perspective buyers swamping your e-mail inbox with offers. After all, you are offering a mint baseball card, a vintage coat, pristine used car, those wholesale-priced sporting goods, and whatever other attractive items are in your inventory. Instead, you only have a slow trickle of questions, a handful of sales. What gives? More than likely, your sales are slow because you have not mastered the three techniques of writing a classic classified ad.

Of course, give yourself credit for recognizing one important facet of today’s selling world. You decided to sell your stuff at an online classified site. As anybody in the business knows, online classified ads get you more privacy, a broader selection of buyers, and a wealth of tools to help you keep tabs on your transactions. When compared to a newspaper, cyberspace is also a wee bit more spacious. There are billions of pages on the Web, and only a few dozen in your typical neighborhood rag. For you, that means a lot more space for your ad to say the least.

With that space, however, comes great responsibility—and great potential. The extra room gives you the freedom to include as much product description and sale copy as you want. You can’t just slap together a whole bunch of information, though. You need to use the three special ad writing techniques that will attract buyers and seal the deal: attention, interest, and action.

Attention. Make sure the buyer stops at your ad instead of the thousands upon thousands of others out there in cyberspace. Your ad’s title is the first lure to grab his or her attention, and the first component of a catchy title is the item’s best feature, whether it’s the price, the item’s rarity, or its popularity. Next, be sure the title includes keywords or other synonyms for your item that a buyer might use in a search. For instance, a buyer could search for “automobile” instead of “car,” “pullover” instead of “sweater.”

Interest. Once you have the buyer’s attention, hook them with details. There is a direct relationship between the amount of information you provide and the number of sales you’ll make. So describe the item as completely as possible—size, color, material, designer, model—and provide a clear, digital photo to finish the job where your words leave off. Even offer your prospective customer the item’s history if possible.

Also, try to list as many possible benefits that your sales item could offer the buyer. Come up with some that the buyer probably wouldn’t think of on his or her own. And zone in on specific benefits. Use what you already know about your target. For instance, if you were selling a car, you know that whoever is looking at your ad is in need of a vehicle. If your car is compact, perhaps the buyer is in search of great gas mileage. Or perhaps it’s power he or she wants if your car is a sports model.

Action. Finish your ad strongly. Don’t just suggest to the buyer that you offer a great deal. Tell them it’s a fantastic offer that they can’t pass up. Use phrases like “Call me now before someone else does” or “Buy now, this opportunity won’t last long.” Be cordial while you’re pressing the issue, of course. Thank them for reading your ad and make sure they know you appreciate their business.

Most importantly, your customers will also value your honesty throughout the whole ad. So whether it’s the attention, interest, or action you’re shooting for, never lie or exaggerate. Go so far to include any defects if your product is not in mint shape. Your honesty will build trust, and trust above all else makes an ad work. What’s more, it makes for repeat customers.

Remember, if you use all three of these elements—or four if you include honesty. When you’re finished with it, it should read something like the two examples below.

Example 1:

Discover the beauty of a Forest Hill Home
2500 sq. ft. home, 4 bedroom, 3 baths, double garage, upgraded kitchen, 12 ft. ceilings
This open concept house is situated in a historical landmark district of Rhode Island. It’s a wonderful neighborhood to raise your family, with nearby schools and amenities.

(Insert your image or photo here.)

Call for an on-site appointment. Thanks for looking!

Example 2:

Looking for an inexpensive used car that drives well? only $4,950.
2003 Honda Civic, Limited Edition, 65,000 miles, manual transmission, CD, AM/FM radio, power steering, low maintenance. Great on gas – this car will save you $$$ on high gasoline prices.

As per 2005 statistics released, on line trade grew more by more than 22% over previous year. To accept credit cards for online trade, you need a merchant account. Getting a merchant account is not easy for all. It does involve a lot of money. To solve this issue, another fast emerging choice is use of third-party factoring services, also known as credit card processors. These processors process third party orders through their own merchant accounts. A good processor provides a secure environment for sale, ensure that supplier fulfills the obligations of trade and ensure payment for the sale to the trader.

The growth of criminal methods on the net to steal information and rob off wealth is growing at alarming rate. To help these issues, these processors provide very valuable service to newbie merchants who can not afford own merchant account and are quite instrumental in fraud prevention as well as to protect the consumer interest. A good credit card processor instills a strong sense of satisfaction among consumers to protect their interests and thus at a nominal cost boosts the revenue of on-line trader.

A good processor has to be very stringent as they are answerable to their own merchant account provider. Too many dissatisfied customers or traders can make them go out of business. I came across http://www.InternetMerchants.info, which very elaborately describes about various credit card processors. It would be a good idea to check from here.

One of such reputed and well established credit card processor is 2CheckOut (2CO), which is online distribution center for over 300,000 products and services. It provides a customizable transaction interface, multi-level customer service interaction, security features using SSL encryption network. One can get started immediately with no hassles of term contracts, additional equipment and can deal with any international suppliers, except for few prohibited products.

<b>What does it cost?</b>

Charges wise, it may not be cheapest one, but in terms of customers rating and appreciation, it definitely stands out. Initial set up charges include one time setup fees of $49. Besides, a commission of 5.5% per transaction and additional charges of $0.45 are levied. These transaction charges can go up on some classes of products. Charges for additional services are even higher. 2CheckOut supports 28 currencies for payment. For payments in local currency, if it is one of the supported currencies, wire option can be exercised at a cost of $5 per transfer. You can also choose to receive funds in US dollars at fees of $20 per transfer. These charges are definitely steep for small payments, but, 2CheckOut does give option to set a release level of payments and payments would be held till it reaches that level. Additionally, there are charges for stop payment of check and for charge backs.

However, being a processor with one of the lowest fraud rate, such steep rates also gel with market.

<b>Payment to Suppliers</b>

Generally all payments are made on 1st and 16th of the month, when all transactions that occur within 48 hours of this period will be processed, and payment remitted. However suppliers with sales volumes of over $1,000 a week qualify for weekly transfers.

<b>Types of Products</b>

A supplier is not allowed to sell certain types of goods as adult content, firearms, ammunition, tobacco products and multi-level marketing etc.

<b>Protecting Consumer Interest</b>

Protection of consumer interest is basically in own interest of a credit card processor to be able to stay in business. As the terms of agreement with 2CO, a supplier agrees to readdress all the customers complaints addressed to him directly or through 2CO, to the satisfaction of customer, proficiently and harmoniously.

To protect interests of sellers, it reserves the right to impose limits on purchase of products by specific buyers for any reason, in its sole discretion, as it may deem fit.

Payments on an account are made after 2CO’s verification processes it also holds money from suppliers account to protect buyer’s interest. Generally a 5% of the gross sales are kept as reserve for at least 90 days would be held and in some cases the Reserve is retained at a higher rate for period exceeding 90 days.

It has a provision for refund and charge back too. Either 2CO or supplier may ask for reversal of transaction leading to refund and return the funds to a customer’s account. Credit card issuing bank may dispute the validity of transaction through the given credit card either on its own volition or on instruction of its clients and initiate reversal of funds transferred. This is called charge back. In such cases, where supplier feels victimized, he may opt to initiate a dispute and seek assistance of 2CO. 2CO would assist by way of providing any documentation that supplier may need and would charge a fee of $14 for each such dispute that supplier decides to contest.

2CO service has been rated as wonderful by most users. The only suggestions for improvement would be more in depth sales reports and the ability to have custom form fields on. It has reputation of being a company that enables businesses to receive funds from businesses and consumers internationally with zero fraud and at a much lower cost than traditional wire payments.

In fact if you are a victim of such credit card processor, you must immediately take steps, which have been very lucidly at http://www.InternetMerchants.info/complainant-guide.html. Do follow them; I am sure these would come handy.

Some naysayers way back in the 1990s predicted that online shopping wouldn’t last. Sure, and they said television was a passing fad, too! As we all know, just the opposite has occurred. There’s a television in every household, and more than likely, the homeowner bought their television online—along with his books, music CDs, clothes, and maybe even his home.

Internet shopping is bigger than ever. You can find anything and everything for sale online. Many times, you can find it cheaper online than anywhere else. Internet shopping offers so much more than a discounted price tag, though.

Imagine a shopping mall where there are no lines, where there are no jammed parking garages, and no pushy sales clerks. This is no land of make believe. It is the Internet, where you can discover unprecedented selection, convenience, and opportunities. Online shopping gives you the luxury of browsing hundreds of stores from your living room, while saving on time and frustration. It provides you the chance to compare prices to your heart’s delight on a near limitless selection of brands and models.

For even more benefits, try your hand at classifieds and auction Web sites. These sites are like yard sales and flea markets rolled into one. Unlike retail shopping sites, they offer:

Access to super secondary markets. Take your pick of secondhand or brand-new wholesale goods at steeply discounted prices. The vendors at classifieds sites can get away with it because they aren’t paying high rent for a storefront or a warehouse. And in many cases, you’re not paying taxes.

Tools to locate unique and rare collectibles. Imagine a classifieds site to be like a sunken pirate boat, laden with cultural artifacts, hard-to-find heirlooms, and priceless antiques. The Internet is your deep-sea vessel, sonar, and oxygen tank all in one.

Reach beyond your neighborhood. Search through the inventory of a vendor from your home town, or if you don’t find what you’re looking for there, try that fellow in California, Texas or Canada for that matter.

Close relationships with vendors. You deal with real people—not big, impersonal corporations—when you buy on classifieds sites. They can provide more details about the product, which you can then use to bargain for a reasonable price.

Despite this bounty of benefits, you might still be hesitant to dive into Internet shopping. Don’t be embarrassed. You have good reason to take your time and weigh your choices. According to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Internet fraud tops the list of the thousands of fraud cases that happen every year. In some ways, WWW could stand for the Wild West Web, in that anything goes. Vendors can be villains in disguise, and there aren’t any online Wyatt Earps to protect you from these bad guys. You’re on your own.

But give yourself some credit. You have the common sense it takes to survive the WWW. It is the same commonsense that helps you make the most of your money on your standard shopping trips. Become familiar and comfortable with an online vendor before jumping into a purchase. Ask questions and do a bit of research.

After doing your research, you’ll feel more confident in searching for your online booty. To refine your findings and whittle your list to only the exceptional sites, look for these additional qualities:

• A focus on local shopping, so you can feel more confident buying from neighbors.
• Free education and advice on safe purchasing.
• No-cost and easy browsing through available merchandise.
• Search tools that let you prioritize items by category, location, and distance.
• A straightforward pricing system that avoids the haggling and risk of auction bidding.
• Quick price comparisons among different vendors.

Unbelievably, a few trustworthy, practical, and exciting Web sites exist that have all of these features. To find these websites, simply browse through Yahoo’s directory under the classifieds category. The best of the online classified sites offer these services free to buyers such as you. Some of these sites can link you at no charge to your neighbor selling the antique lamp that you’ve been hunting for or that retiree looking to unload an incredible piece of real estate—or the cowboy looking to sell his big-screen television.

I see it happening all the time… websites with no physical mailing address. It’s as if they don’t exist anywhere but in the scary world of cyberspace. I say scary because that’s exactly what a high percentage of the web browsing population thinks of the Internet. When these people are looking to purchase a product and don’t see a physical address, they get scared, and very likely abandon the purchase. And don’t think that a typical email address for your contact information cuts it. People want a physical location.

So, what do you do? Simple. Use a physical mailing address as a contact option in your ‘Contact Us’ page and/or website order form. However, if you’re a website owner that operates from your home, don’t go and attach your home address to your website just yet, you might want to think about your mailing options.

Deciding where to have your business mail sent is not as straightforward as you might think. There are a few factors that you have to take into consideration – quantity of mail received, length of time at location, convenience, and of course, cost. The good news is that you have several options that are available to you:

1. Your Home Address
2. Mailing Services (Mailboxes Etc., The UPS Store, etc.)
3. Mail Forwarding
4. Post Office Box (P.O. Box)

Using your home address:

Using your home address is definitely the cheapest option. To the small to medium size website owners, it is probably the best option. However, if you tend to grow rapidly, or if your website already has a large user-base, then your home address may not be the best option for you.

If you are selling products from your website and allowing customers the option to mail in their order (which is good practice – and many do), then you could potentially get a lot of mail, depending on the user-base of your website, of course. If this is the case, then your home mailman will not be happy with you at this stage! And you may also find yourself spending a half hour out of each day prying your mail out of your tiny home mailbox that is not big enough to accommodate all that mail. Furthermore, if you ever move you will need to forward your mail to your new location, which never seems to be as smooth as you’d like it to be.

Then there’s the fact the all of your customers can easily find out where you live. Not that you’re hiding from anyone! But you could find yourself in the situation where you have a few inquisitive customers that don’t mind “stopping by” to ask a few questions!

Using a Mailing Services (Mailboxes Etc., The UPS Store, etc.):

The use of a mailing service can be quite expensive ($25-$45 per month). However, there are some benefits. You can assign a suite number or have a real street name assigned to your business address, instead of a P.O. box. This can give the potential customer the impression that your business has an office or building that resides at the location. However, I have found that the cost of this service usually outweighs the benefits associated with it. Nevertheless, the money you pay to use a mailing service is tax deductible as a business expense.

Using Mail Forwarding:

Now, if you REALLY want to get fancy you can opt for the mail forwarding option. Here you can pay a company in a “big time” city like New York or Chicago to accept your mail and forward your mail to you. This is EXPENSIVE! And there is another major drawback – you are always getting your mail about 2-5 days late due to the forwarding time.

Using a Post Office Box (P.O. Box):

The use of a P.O. Box is, in my opinion, the best choice for those that run high traffic websites out of their home. Not only does your mail get to the P.O. Box more quickly, but also the cost is relatively cheap (about $50-$125 per year). Again, this cost is a business expense, so save your receipt and write it off!

In my opinion and experience, most people are accustom to the P.O. Box and do not mind sending orders to it. In fact, many big companies use P.O. boxes as a matter of conveniently keeping the mail separate.

There you have it, four good ways to make your customers feel more secure by adding a physical address to your website. Pick the one that suites you and your company’s needs best – everyone is different. The important thing is to give your customers a place to send physical mail.

Good luck! And be sure to come back to visit VictoryKey often for more online business tips and discussions!
